Our Client –
Multi-Million Dollar Real Estate Developer

The client is a multi-million-dollar provider of heating material manufacturing and installation solutions for industrial, institutional, and residential plumbing, in operation since 1986, with more than 100 million dollars in contract awards. Committed to efficient and cost-effective service, they provide estimates for commercial and residential plumbing, utility, gas, and boiler installation, remodeling, quality control and additions as well as service for leaks, clogs, frozen pipes, installation of plumbing for in-door water refrigerators, fixtures, and grease traps. Requirements – Plumbing and Clash Detection Detailing

The client required an outsourcing partner to create plumbing detailing and coordination for a school they were working on, as well as providing clash detection for electrical and fire-fighting parts.

Challenges Faced by BOP’s Engineers

Covering a build area of six floors with more than 3, 00,000 lakh sq. Feet, the client required drafts of the plumbing model in REVIT software using the pipe routing and sizes supplied, as well as 3D modeling and coordination. We were also required to identify any clashes with electrical and fire-fighting installations and make the necessary modification.

Electrical and fire-fighting detailing had to be fetched weekly and checked against the model for clash detection, before making any necessary modifications. An ongoing project, there are three members and two managers involved.

How BOP Provided the Clash Detection and Plumbing Detailing

Making use of REVIT, BIM 360, Primavera and Navisworks, the team adhered to the following step-wise process:

  • PDFs of the 2D drawing were received through Primavera project management tool.
  • 3D Modeling was completed by REVIT BIM.
  • All other teams working on the electrical and fire-fighting parts upload their tasks to Autodesk BIM 360 through which the coordination was done.
  • Clash detection was performed, and any necessary modifications to the model were completed.
  • There are weekly meetings for construction, structural, heating, and hatchback, electrical and fire-fighting.
