The Client - An Established Worldwide Luxury Outdoor Furniture Manufacturer

Based in Athens, Greece the client is a specialist in outdoor furniture production and worldwide distribution. They specialize in making the highest quality commercial grade hand-woven chairs, tables and other furniture items that are known for their stylish designs and affordability.

Synthetic rattan hand-woven items and classic weather wicker furniture are two of their best-known products.

Furniture Modeling Requirements for This Project

The client approached our team at BackOffice Pro with a project concerning Revit family creation and furniture modeling. We were required to create individual models of each item of furniture, as well as a building catalog to showcase these pieces in their best light.

The project consisted of 20 images of the furniture provided by the client, a timeline of five days to complete and a team of 2 Modelers and 1 QC lead.

Challenges Faced by the BOP Team During This Project

In taking on this project, the main challenges we faced were due to limited dimensions being provided for all the furniture. This complicated our task quite a bit as we were forced to assume how large or small each item actually was.

To combat this problem, we had meetings with the client to clarify exactly what was needed and worked based on our prior skill and experience.

Revit Family Creation Process

Using prior skill and experience our team at BackOffice Pro worked diligently to ensure the client received exactly what they needed.

  • After our initial meeting with the client, we received the 20 images that needed to be worked on.
  • We started our process by creating the base drawings in AutoCAD.
  • For simple drawings, we directly imported into Autodesk Revit to create the models.
  • For the complex drawings – We extruded the parts and then exported that into Revit to create the models.
  • Finally, our QC lead delivered the finished products to the client for the final check.
